Five years ago if you would have asked me if I thought that I had the heart of David I would’ve laughed at you. But in this year of FCMA I have started to realize that God created me to have a heart of David . One of the things that I did was I thought ok what part the fighter against the Philistines, or the one that created songs in the court of Saul. Or maybe the one who cries out to God, when he needed help when he sinned or did something that God didn’t approve of. Or the one that danced naked in the streets for God because he didn’t care what others thought. I realized that I had the heart of all of these different parts of David in my heart. He was not afraid to show that he loved God and wasn’t afraid to show it to others. That is why he is one of my favorite people to learn about in the Bible and why I feel God gave Me the Heart of David.
One of the reasons though I feel that is because one of my favorite parts of David is in 1 Samuel 17:45-49, this is when David talks to Goliath and says in verse 45: "You come against me with sword and spear and javelin , but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty the God of the armies of Israel whom you have defied.” After that he talks to Goliath and tells him what’s going to happen to him. But I think this verse right here before it is so powerful. Because he comes in the name of the Lord, David saw that by his own strength he was not going to defeat Goliath. But by the strength of God he was going to be able to. Because he had that boldness in the faith to step out and trust in what God had planned for him. But the one thing that people miss when they talk about David And about his heart, is that they miss verse 48: “As the Philistine moved closer to attack him, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet him.” I can see that, I see the heart of David what I mean by that is he ran out in boldness knowing that God was going to be able to take care of it.
That is one of the characteristics that I like to have and people tell me that I have a heart of David and I have the boldness to pray for people that are not in my comfort zone. Also to do different things in boldness to know that God has his protection over me. So I challenge you, strive for a heart of David and you can be more bold like David was against the Philistine. Whatever challenge you’re going through whatever burden you carry have the boldness to have a heart like David, and not be afraid of what people think of you.
