Preparing Today

Thank you for joining me as I, guided by the Holy Spirit, seek out the importance of preparing today and the benefits to follow for your career, ministry, and marriage. Now to start us off why is it important to prepare today? Why can’t you just wait until tomorrow? After all, if it’s not for today then what’s the point? “Those who clean themselves from the latter will be instruments for special purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared for any good work. Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart,” (2 Tim 2:21-22). You have a special purpose that your made for. Master Wu once said, “Never put off until tomorrow what can be done today.” Yes, I just did a Ninjago quote, your welcome.

Eph. 2:10 “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” So, if GOD prepared in advance, then as His sons and daughters as His image bearers, shouldn’t we follow the LORD’s lead? After all, that is one of the reasons He came, to show us the way. His entire life was the ultimate example for us to live. What’s the point of wanting something if you’ll never be ready to receive it? Now you’re not going to be ready for everything of course, like coming home from work not expecting your wife to tell you she’s pregnant, or your mom to call you and say grandpa has cancer and isn’t doing well. You’re not going to be prepared for every situation, after all if you were, you wouldn’t need GOD.

Do you know where GOD is calling you? If no, then ask GOD to reveal that to you because that’s one way to prepare. “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you,” (Ps 32:8). Once you know where GOD is calling you, start taking steps towards that. Is there a certain job or career you want to pursue? What skills or training will you need? If you want to be in a relationship prove it by starting to fight for your future spouse today and not giving up hope or falling into sinful desires. It means stop looking at what the world has to offer and look what GOD has to offer.

Another way to prepare for a relationship is to realize that you need GOD before a spouse GOD gave you the breath of life, not some girl of guy. Want to make a difference? Make one today, whatever that thing is, what do you have to do to be ready? “Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes. For you will spread out to the right and to the left; your descendants will dispossess nations and settle in their desolate cities" (Isaiah 54:1-3 NIV). GOD was telling the Israelites and us as explained in verse 17, “This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD…” you’ve got to be in a place to receive before receiving. Stop wasting your season of preparation that GOD has given you on the things of this world, which don’t last. Fix your eyes on GOD because He cares for you and He wants to give you more. Are you ready? When you prepare today, you are getting your heart ready for tomorrow’s blessings. GOD must prepare your heart before you get the blessing.
